Ecuador hosts some of the richest marine ecosystems in the world. The Galapagos Islands are home to 2900 known species of fish and marine mammals not to mention endemic seabirds, the only marine iguana in the world and the only penguin that lives north of the equator in the wild.
Of these species, 57 are on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. As one of the most important marine parks in the world we need to bolster the protection of its marine wildlife so it can live and thrive without human threats or intervention.
